Common UAE Tax Questions
Corporate Tax is 0% on taxable income up to AED 375,000 and 9% on taxable income above AED 375,000. Large multinational groups with consolidated revenue over EUR 750 million may also face a 15% Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax under OECD Pillar Two rules (applicable from January 2025).
Small Business Relief allows a UAE resident business with annual revenue of AED 3,000,000 or less to elect to be treated as having no taxable income — meaning zero Corporate Tax is due for that period. This must be actively elected in your tax return. Conditions and time limits apply. Contact Al Marzaan to check your eligibility.
Free Zone companies can access 0% Corporate Tax only as a Qualifying Free Zone Person (QFZP). A QFZP pays 0% on qualifying income and 9% on non-qualifying income. To qualify, the company must: maintain adequate substance in the UAE, earn qualifying income, satisfy the de-minimis rule, comply with transfer pricing rules, and prepare audited financial statements. This is NOT automatic — a proper assessment is essential. Get your free zone assessed by Al Marzaan.
VAT registration is mandatory once your taxable supplies exceed AED 375,000 in the past 12 months or are expected to within the next 30 days. Voluntary registration is available if taxable supplies or expenses exceed AED 187,500. Late registration results in immediate FTA penalties.
Your Corporate Tax return must be filed within 9 months of your financial year end. For example, if your financial year ends December 31, 2025 — your CT return is due by September 30, 2026. Late filing results in penalties of AED 500–20,000 depending on delay duration.
All transactions with related parties and connected persons must follow the arm's-length principle. A Transfer Pricing disclosure form must be filed with your CT return. A Master File and Local File are required if the group's consolidated revenue is AED 3.15 billion or more, or if your revenue is AED 200 million or more.
Missing the Corporate Tax or VAT registration deadline results in an immediate AED 10,000 penalty from the FTA. The FTA conducted over 103,000 inspections in the first half of 2026 — a 21% increase. Al Marzaan as FTA-approved agents can handle your registration and ensure you never miss a deadline.
